Stephanie and Jacob were our first couchsurfing hosts in Perth, Australia.

We were there for one of their weekly parties, an Aussie style barbecue complete with kangaroo! It was pretty yummy too.

The next morning James made spinach, cheese & kangaroo scones for everybody!

About Me

I’m a California native who has spent the last 6 years exploring the world. After college, I backpacked around New Zealand for  year, spent 8 months volunteering and traveling in Southeast Asia, and worked for a year in Australia. During that time I was volunteering on farms using helpx.net and finding odd jobs to pay my way. Then I leveled up and worked as an English teacher in Japan for two years through the JET program. My next goal was to learn Spanish and travel in Europe, so I taught English for three years in Spain. Now I’m at home in Santa Barbara planning my next adventure!

My YouTube Channel is youtube.com/ambertraveling. Check out my original song I Am Powerful filmed in and written for my elementary school students in Malaga, Spain. Another one of my originals for kids is The Five Senses Song. I also have lots of covers of songs like California by Joni Mitchell and Kiss Me More by Doja Cat!

More photos from day 2 of the Nar Phu trek. Nar Phu Trek day 2- Day 1 of our 9 day trek in the Nar Phu Valley. Highlights include hiking under a waterfall and meeting our fun Nepali porters! @xedorje you guys rock!! 😊 Kathmandu to Besisahara to Meta by bus and jeep - a terrifying but exciting (and bumpy!!!) journey! My volunteer week at Kakani Adventure Camp was so fun and fulfilling! Painting Kakani Brighter School yellow was the first week of my month volunteering and trekking in Nepal. There were six other American volunteers - my dad Kevin, Joe, a firefighter from upstate New York, Josh, a school superintendent from Napa, and Dennis, our trip leader and an editor of Outside Magazine from Boulder, Colorado. I was also happy that there were two other women who became my good friends - Jessica, a doctor from Virginia, and Cherie, a nurse from West LA. So much delicious food here in Nepal! The little dumplings are called momos and are filled with veggies (or chicken.) I just volunteered painting a school for 5 days and part of the deal was getting fed these amazing meals! Kathmandu day 2- Kathmandu day 1 lessons learned:
